A Little About Me

I’m 26, and I’ve been in the lash game for six years now. But fun fact: I actually qualified as a primary school teacher first! While I was studying, I worked as a makeup artist in a local salon—one thing led to another, and I eventually found myself training in lash extensions.

I started small, setting up my own beauty room at the back of a leisure centre while juggling teaching. I stayed there for a year before taking the leap, quitting my job, and opening my first salon. Three years later, I expanded, rebranded, and brought on a team of self-employed artists.

Now? I’m fully booked, I’ve won awards for my lash sets, and I’ve created my very own lash training course. But let me tell you, it took me a lot longer to get there than it should have.

The Start of My Journey

Here’s the tea: my own lash training was terrible. My trainer spent most of my one-day course scrolling on her phone. The lash kit? Underwhelming is putting it kindly. And when I reached out for support a few months later, she ghosted me.

My Top 3 Tips to Instantly Improve Your Lash Work

Let’s dive into three key areas you can start working on right now:

1. Direction

This is how the extension sits on the natural lash. Even if the natural lash is wonky, your placement should always be straight.

• Use the tips of your tweezers to adjust the extension.

• Keep assessing the direction throughout your set—if the extensions aren’t all facing the same way, the overall look will suffer.

👉 Pro Tip: If we checked our direction as often as we brushed the lashes, we’d all be lash queens by now! 👑

2. Isolation

Isolation might sound simple, but even seasoned lash artists need to revisit this skill.

• Use both tweezers to find and separate the lash you want to work on.

• Secure the natural lash with your isolation tweezers before applying the extension.

• Practice. Repeat. Perfect.

3.Placement

Placement is critical—not just for how your sets look but also for your clients’ lash health.

• Leave a small gap between the eyelid and where the extension starts.

• Make sure the extension is flat against the natural lash.

• Poor placement can lead to discomfort or even damage, so don’t skip this step!
